I have a love for photography but have never really had the chance to pursue it and better myself, so my goal for myself from here on out is to start carrying my camera with me and taking pictures more often. There are countless times I have been somewhere and thought, that would be a beautiful picture, but didn’t have my camera with me. I am posting some photos to in my flickr account that I have taken previously, and I plan to post more as I take them! So check back often for updates! My flickr account is http://www.flickr.com/photos/alexisbennettdesign/. Enjoy!

Welcome! I have just begun my journey into the wonderful world of blogging. I was reading one of my favorite magazines, Communication Arts, and they had a column on blogging for a designer. I had never really thought about how blogging might be an assett to my company but after reading the article I realized it might be worth a try. I have never blogged before and I figured it might be a fun outlet for my creative thoughts and ideas. My intentions with this blog are to talk about design (work, ideas, random thoughts, etc.).
So, Lets Get Started…….
One of the things that came to mind the other day, while I was watching Brothers and Sisters on tv the other night was that their second logo, in particular the “&”, had changed color yet again. I made a comment about it and my husband immediately replied, as he always does when I mention something design related, “Only you would notice something like that.”
This comment always makes me think about what I notice and what other people might notice. I guess having an eye for the typeface, spacing, color, layout, etc. all comes with being a good designer. It is something I have trained my eye to do without even thinking about it.
I started then, to wonder if this was something that everyone does in regards to what they do daily. I asked my father, who is an electrician, if he notices random things, because of his electrical background, that other people would not notice and almost before I finished he said, “Yes. When I walk into a house or building the first thing I look at is the ceiling and the walls.” I proceeded to ask my mother, who is an interior designer, what she thought about the issue and she said the same thing, “Yes. When I walk into a room I look straight ahead and immediately notice the interior elements that surround me.”
So in conclusion, I think it is an interesting thought. It is amazing that such a little thing, that no one without the same training would notice, stands out immediately to a trained eye. So think about it in your own daily life, do you notice things that are in some regard related to your field or training, that most other people, without your same training, would not notice at all?
